Embryos
Embryos are bodies in an initial state of development, and by now you have an image of a human-like object curled up in the mother’s womb. A good image..
The first eight examples in Business Development are based on my experience in Bonavista since 2019. I cannot try every suggestion in my list of 190 examples, but I can try some, especially those that might be fun.
I continue to compost; I have ordered kites to sell at cost plus 10%. I have purchased a rotary-hoe and am forcing myself on neighbours yards. I gave/planted/forced daffodils and tulips on five local households and have ordered two bushels of bulbs for this fall’s campaign.
I believe that by running a few ideas up the flagpole I can demonstrates that these small businesses are feasible, and can as well gather data.
For example, if I set up a stall across the road from the Little Dairy King and can sell a kite to one in every ten ice-cream families, what does that tell us? Is a price of cost+10% low enough to persuade impulse buyers?
With the idea of an embryonic business in mind, I winnowed out a few ideas.

I think of the first three items as Structural businesses. They are run as a small business by a team of young adults, but they serve to maintain the entire project of Business Development here in Bonavista.
To date there is no Body, but I might be a temporary member until a quorum is reached.
I can set up a chequing account at a chartered financial institution – perhaps Venture Capital in Catalina or Royal Bank in Trinity – and I can be a shareholder and provide the initial capital
I can purchase a printer (up to $200) and paper and start selling advertising to a select body of merchants in town.
Daffodils I can plant on Canon Bayley Street, one house lot at a time, armed with a shovel, a bag of bulbs, and my green pull-cart with a pail of compost.
Kites I can set up my stall opposite the Little Dairy King
And so on.
I must have a goal. In any month that I elect to trial an idea I should aim at making $200 cash profit in any month. That is a significant amount and will cover my grocery costs. The cash earned can go into the Bonavista Business Bank.
Initial advertisers should be little-known entities in Bonavista; most people know that Kim O and Kim B are insurance agents, that there are two grocery stores.
